  • Geography : North Goa is surrounded by Maharashtra state to the north and east, South Goa to its south and the vast Arabian Sea to the west. It is further divided into four subdivisions, Panaji, Mapusa, Bicholim, and Ponda. Majority of the people in North Goa speak Konkani and Marathi. Portuguese is also spoken and understood by a small number of people. The district is blessed with immense mineral deposits of iron, manganese, bauxite, limestone and clay.
  • Beaches : North Goa nestles some of the most popular and beautiful beaches of the tiny state. Dona Paula, Miramar, Calangute and Baga, Anjuna, Chapora & Vagator are some of the famous beaches of the district. These beaches are always flocked with tourists who love them for their extensive curved stretches, white sands and palm fringes. Visitors can simply relax on these and enjoy the free sun tan or indulge in several water sports activities like water - skiing or boating. The rave or beach parties and carnivals are frequently held at some of these beaches.
  • Historic Places : The other historic possession of North Goa includes the ancient Terekhol Fort, Fort Aguada, Corjeum Fort, Chapora Fort, Reis Magos Fort. The Portuguese built this fort in 1609-1612. The celebrated caves of Arvalem are a great way to visit the forbidden times.
  • Churches And Temples : Some well known churches of Goa are built in this district. Reis Magos Church, Church of St. Ana, Church of Mae de Deus, and Church of Our Lady of the Rock of France, Church of Our Lady of Miracles, Church of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception are some of the most sort out religious treasures of North Goa. Among the temples, the important ones are Brahma Temple, Shree Dattatraya Temple, Shree Saptakoteshwar Temple, Shree Shantadurga Temple, Shree Hanuman Temple and many more.
  • Other Attractions : Tiracol, Mandovi and Sal are the important rivers flowing through North Goa. The place also houses one of the best picnic spot of Goa the Mayem Lake. The Kesarval Spring which are believed to posses the magical healing properties are a part of the district. natural marvels like the Arvalem Waterfalls and the Dudhsagar Waterfalls in the district are a must see.
  • Shopping : North Goa is a shopping paradise. The famous Anjuna Market held every Wednesday is the best place to buy some great stuff like clothes, electronics and local Goan handicrafts. Similarly the Friday Market of Mapusa offers some good buying opportunities.
